As the story goes, an elf can be requested to Santa by children or families. They hibernate until Santa agrees to send the scout elf to stay until Christmas. After Thanksgiving, the elf arrives from the North Pole and lands somewhere in the house. When he is given a name he receives his magic. The elf is under strict orders not to talk to the children, but grown-ups have been known to occasionally send messages through the elves to Santa. If a child touches the elf, he loses his Christmas magic and won’t be able to report his findings back to Santa before Christmas. Before Christmas Eve, the elf magically disappears and goes back to tell Santa how good the children have been, he tells them all their Christmas secrets, and even for what they wish.
